Hi Friends!! I’m attending boo bash as Maleficent-may I bring a staff or are those prohibited? Sincere thanks!

    Hi there, Laura!

Bibbid Bobbidi BOO to you! I'm EERILY excited to hEAR you're planning to attend a Disney After Hours BOO BASH event next month. Not only are you planning to be there, but you'll be channeling your inner Disney Villain as - Maleficent from Walt Disney's Sleeping Beauty

When it comes to the dress code at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom Park, there are specific guidelines in place for special events, such as the BOO BASH. Here are the guidelines from the Walt Disney World Resort website:

"For Guests 14 Years of Age or Older:
Costumes may be worn according to these guidelines. Guests who do not adhere to these guidelines may be refused entry into, and/or removed from Disney parks unless his or her costume can be modified to meet the above standards:
All Guests may dress as their favorite character, but may not pose for pictures or sign autographs for other Guests.
Costumes must be family-friendly and may not be obstructive, offensive, objectionable, or violent.
Costumes may not contain any props or accessories that resemble or could easily be mistaken for an actual weapon.
Costumes may not contain sharp objects, pointed objects, or materials that may accidentally strike another Guest.
Layered costumes or costume props that surround the entire body are strongly discouraged and may be subject to additional security screening.
Costumes may not reach or drag on the ground. (for example, full-length Princess dresses)
Capes may be worn if the length does not go below the waist.
Themed T-shirts, blouses, sweatshirts, and hats are acceptable.
Acceptable accessories include transparent wings, plastic light sabers, toy swords, and tutus. Costume headwear may be worn as long as it does not cover the face.
Costume masks of any kind may not be worn."

I wouldn't think that a Maleficent staff would be considered a prop that could be mistaken for a weapon (unless it truly does possess great magical powers intended for evil purposes...), but it would be up to the discretion of the Cast Members at the entrance if it will be allowed into the park or not. If you'll be arriving a day or two before your scheduled event, perhaps show a photo of the staff to a Cast Member at Guest Relations and ask if it would be ok to bring it as an accessory to your costume.

I hope you'll make time to catch the Halloween cavalcade featuring the Maleficent fire-breathing dragon - what an awesome SPOOKTACULAR photo op that would be! I hope you have a WICKEDLY good time at the BOO BASH, and say hi to all the HAPPY HAUNTS for me!

    Your Ghost Host,
    Diane W.
