We had friends help us with a very difficult emergency and we'd like to gift them Disneyland tickets and gift card for a stay at a Disneyland resort hotel so they can walk to the park. How can I do this as a surprise gift?

    Hello, Kristie!

Thank you for stopping by planDisney! Friends who stand by you during tough times are irreplaceable, and I am so glad that you have people like that in your life. I hope your emergency has passed and that things are beginning to look brighter for your family.

Disney Gift Cards may be the easiest way to give a wonderful gift like this. They can be used to pay for vacation packages, which would include both the hotel stay and the theme park tickets. It may be easiest for them to book the package themselves so they can choose dates that work best for them and make their own park reservations. You can price out the cost of the package online or by calling the Vacation Packages line, and then purchase gift cards that equal that amount. Disney Gift Cards can be purchased online in amounts up to $500 per card.

That said, I did chat with a Cast Member who said that you should be able to book a vacation package for someone else, as long as you have each Guest's full name, ages of any children, and travel dates. Simply log in (or create an account) on the Disneyland website. Under "Places to Stay" at the top of the homepage, scroll down to "Disneyland Resort Hotel Packages" to start the reservation process.

There are three hotels at Disneyland: Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, Disneyland Hotel, and Pixar Place Hotel. The Grand Californian is the closest, but all three are an easy walk to the parks. Each hotel has its own uniquely magical features, so it's helpful to look through the amenities, photos, and pricing before deciding which one is the best fit. If you run into any issues while booking, the Vacations Package line can help. Just remember that park reservations will still need to be made, either by you or them, to enter a theme park after the tickets are purchased.

You could also consider prepaying for a special dining experience, such as the World of Color Dessert Party. It is one of my favorite evening offerings! Guests can enjoy a selection of sweets, snacks, and beverages while relaxing at a reserved table and taking in the World of Color Happiness! performance. It has become my family's favorite way to wrap up a fun-filled day at Disneyland!

Kristie, thank you again for reaching out to planDisney. Do not hesitate to send me a message if you have additional questions!
