Hi Stacey,
It is good to see you here at planDisney! Thank you for bringing your question to me so that I can help your friend’s family prepare for their upcoming
Walt Disney World Resort vacation.
Disability Access Service (DAS) helps Guests, who find waiting in conventional queues a challenge due to a medical condition, to have a more magical vacation. While DAS doesn’t provide immediate access to attractions it does allow Guests to request a return time that is comparable to the current standby wait for an attraction. DAS allows Guests to enjoy other experiences rather than waiting in line.
Determining if DAS is the best accommodation for Guests is handled on a case-by-case basis. To determine if your friend’s daughter qualifies for DAS prior to their vacation, your friend will need to
pre-register for a live video chat with a Cast Member. She can do this as early as 30 days but at least 2 days prior to her park visit on the
Walt Disney World website, so based on her arrival date, she can begin the process now. Stacey, feel free to pass the following recommendations along to your friend.
To pre-register for a live chat, simply go to the
Registering for Disability Access Service page. Be sure to read the information as you scroll down the page to find “Ready to Chat with a Cast Member?” You will need to read and agree to the Terms and Conditions by selecting the blue Terms and Conditions button. Once you have completed that step, you will return to the previous page and will see that the “Request Live Video Chat” button will now be blue. Just click there and you will enter the queue for the chat with a Cast Member.
Please be aware that the Guest who is requesting DAS will need to be present on the chat. And of course, make sure you have your video and audio ready to go so you will be on your way with the chat as soon as a Cast Member is available.
Now, if DAS is right for your situation, you will be offered the opportunity to make
DAS Advance selections before your visit, which is a helpful way to begin planning. During the video chat, the Cast Member will help you make these plans, so be sure to download the
My Disney Experience app prior to registering for the chat. You may make more plans on the day of your visit in the My Disney Experience app.
Stacey, if it's determined that DAS isn’t right for your friend’s situation,
please write back to me and I’ll be happy to help you with other ideas to help create magical memories for their vacation. Following Walt Disney’s vision to create welcoming places for all Guests, Walt Disney World Resort
offers a variety of special services for Guests. I trust that your friend will be making memories soon.
Remember, you are the magic,
Shannon
