Hi Stefanie,
Thank you for visiting us at the Disney Parks Moms Panel. It is wise to book Advanced Dining Reservations as early as you can for your August trip. Many guests do so at 180 days prior to arrival. Now that Disney has implemented a credit card guarantee to hold popular dining reservations, you will find it easier than it was in the past to snag a dining reservation as guests change their itineraries.
My advice to you, Stefanie, is to lay out the Parks you plan to attend on a spreadsheet. For example,
"August 1st, Magic Kingdom in morning, hop to Epcot at night." Then check out the following link to see which
dining locations in Magic Kingdom or Epcot have availability. You can filter the dining search "by location." I always suggest booking dining
near or
in the Park you're visiting that day to avoid wasting precious time traveling around.
I know several friends and family that prefer to dine at counter service locations (no reservations accepted), however if you think you'd like to dine at table service locations or character dining experiences, reservations are strongly recommended. Many times, especially during busy seasons as your friends found out, walk-up seating will be very scarce!
You can book dining online at the above link or by calling Disney Dining at 407-WDW-DINE, 407-939-3463.
I'd be happy to offer dining recommendations based on your travel dates, so feel free to send me your tentative itinerary, Stefanie.
Happy planning!
Sherri
