Royal greetings, Meredith!
A warm welcome to planDisney and thank you for bringing us your
Walt Disney World Resort vacation planning question. It looks like your enchanting visit to The Most Magical Place on Earth is just weeks away - are you counting down the days yet!? Meredith, it's kind of you to reach out on behalf of your friend and I'm happy to provide you with some insight on running at the Disney Resort hotels near
Magic Kingdom Park.
As a runner myself, I can tell you that there's no better place to run than at Walt Disney World Resort. (I love it so much that I register for almost every
runDisney race weekend throughout the year!) Meredith, of all the
running trails at Walt Disney World Resort, the paths in the Magic Kingdom Resort Area are my favorite! Staying at
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa puts you right in the heart of the magic. When your friend isn't watching
Happily Ever After from the Resort hotel's beachfront or relaxing at one of the themed swimming pools, she can enjoy jogging on the scenic paths throughout Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and the surrounding areas.
Meredith, currently, the pathway connecting Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and Magic Kingdom Park is closed as areas of the Resort hotel undergo refurbishment. This route is scheduled to reopen in late spring 2023, so be sure to check with the Cast Members at the Front Desk when you arrive to see if the path has reopened. When I stay at any Resort hotel situated on the Resort Monorail, I always enjoy running the approximately two-mile "C-shaped" loop between Disney's Contemporary Resort and the Transportation and Ticket Center. If the walking path connecting Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and Magic Kingdom Park is still closed during your visit, then your friend can still run on the path between Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and the Transportation and Ticket Center. This path winds past Seven Seas Lagoon and through the lush grounds of
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort. Please note that, although there's also construction taking place at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort currently, the walking path is still open between dawn and dusk. Temporarily, the walkway routes Guests across Floridian Way near the golf courses at
Shades of Green before crossing back over to Disney's Polynesian Village Resort.
Meredith, I hope you find this information useful as you continue to plan a memorable getaway for you and your friend! I'm wishing you both a practically perfect, pixie-dusted visit to The Most Magical Place on Earth. If you happen to have any additional planning questions, I hope you'll return to planDisney again soon!
Magic awaits,
Lauren
