My friend and I are running our first Disney half in Jan 2016. As the moms of small children, we love our sleep! I hear you can walk to the start from OKW and may a few surrounding resorts? Is this the case? Hoping to avoid busses! Thank you!

    Hi, Diana!

Welcome to the wonderful world of runDisney! As a mom of three children, I'm right there with you in the needing sleep department!

While at one time it was doable to walk to the starting corrals from Disney's Old Key West Resort and a few other surrounding resorts, runDisney announced that beginning with the 2014 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, any runner caught trying to access corrals on foot from non approved paths would be disqualified; specifically mentioning those trying to walk from resorts. I can also say, having had access to this area this past Marathon Weekend, there were Cast Members stationed at Overpass Road to stop runners from crossing. I would't risk it!

I know using race transportation does mean an earlier wake-up call, but I promise you will be so excited and full of pixie dust you won't even notice the missed sleep. Plus, there is so much fun happening at the Start Zone Area, you won't want to miss it. I'm always amazed at how well I can function with the lack of sleep I get during a runDisney race weekend - you will be too!

I hope this helps with your race morning plan, Diana. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any further questions you may have.
