Can I have a friend pick me up or drop me off at a Disney hotel or do they need to pay the parking fee?

Hiya Marie - welcome back to planDisney!

Thanks for stopping by with another question for us! We love repeat visitors - it lets us know that we're being helpful! I'm excited to hEAR about your upcoming trip in October. You're going to have so much fun exploring the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary Celebration!

Walt Disney World is always more fun with friends, especially friends with a car!

Currently, parking at Disney Resorts is limited to registered Guests of the Resort and other Guests who have dining or recreation reservations. Because of this, vehicle access to the Resorts is somewhat limited. In my recent experience, I've found two easy ways to deal with this. First, you can visit the Front Desk to have your friend added as a Day Guest on your reservation. With that designation, they should have no trouble swinging by to pick you up or even sticking around for a bit to enjoy time with you at your Resort. Alternatively, I've found that most Cast Members at the Resort entrance will allow me to pick someone up if I provide that Guest's name and room number, and show my photo ID.

Dropping off is much simpler! When you're already in the vehicle, you can just tap your MagicBand, Key to the World Card, or MagicMobile pass on your smartphone to enter your Resort as a returning Guest (i.e., after you've already checked in). Keep in mind that you may be responsible for parking fees on your Guest room account if the vehicle remains parked at the Resort for an extended period of time (e.g., more than three hours) or overnight.

Also keep in mind that some Resorts may have slightly different parking procedures in place for various reasons, so it's always best to ask and follow the instructions of the Cast Members at the Resort.

I hope this information has been helpful - let me know if you have any additional questions as you continue planning!
