Does my friend need anything to be a spectator while I run the Disney princess marathon?

    Welcome to planDisney, Luz!

I'm so glad you stopped by this magical corner of the internet to chat about adding a bit of pixie dust to your miles with runDisney!

I happened to stop by Walt Disney World Resort this past weekend as I prepared to set sail aboard Disney Cruise Line, so although I didn't participate in this year's Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend I was able to enjoy the atmosphere of camaraderie for a bit. I always love how runners proudly wear their medals in the theme parks and congratulations fill the air. The feeling of joy and accomplishment is absolutely contagious!

With this in mind, I think your pal will be so glad they chose to accompany you for the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend. Since my first marathon ten years ago, my husband has become a 'professional spectator' and has dubbed himself 'Lizzie's Pit Crew', so I'm happy to share a bit of what he has learned over the years. Happily, there's no paperwork or ticket required for spectators to cheer on their favorite runners, and he or she can conveniently track you using your bib number to know when you are approaching. My husband usually sends me a text letting me know where he'll be (ideally indicating a landmark for me to keep an eye out for as well as the side of the course he is on) and carries a large sign (bonus points if it includes photos of our dogs) so that I can more easily spot him. There's also a large reunion area after the finish line where you can meet up, enjoy your post-race snack box, and take a few photos together.

Closer to the date of your race, runDisney will release a Digital Expo & Event Guide that will include helpful information on 'Spectator Viewing'. This will provide times and locations for spectating as well as transportation information. This year's course map for your race has not yet been released so nothing is guaranteed, but if previous trends hold true your friend could have the opportunity to utilize the Walt Disney World Monorail to cheer you on as you race to the castle - no theme park ticket required!

Your race will be here before you know it, so now's the time to start testing your race-day apparel! Whether you choose to channel your inner Cinderella and transform into an elegant princess or simply add a bit of pixie dust to your athletic wear, there's sure to be magic in the miles.

I hope this information helps! If you're in need of anything more specific, you're welcome to stop back by. I'm always happy to help!

    Thinking Happy Thoughts,
    Lizzie
