    A friend of mine mentioned something about a "Fish extender" door gift exchange. It sounds like fun but I need more information. Can you explain this and how you sign up?

    Fish Extenders are fabric pockets that guests hang from the metal fish wall ornament outside their stateroom doors. (That's where the name comes from - the pockets extend from your fish!) The Fish Extender gift exchange isn't an official Disney Cruise Line activity, instead, it's a fun tradition created by fans of Disney Cruise Line as a way to share the fun of cruising with other guests. 

    Guests bring little gifts to share with other participating cruisers, and leave the trinkets in the Fish Extender pockets during the cruise. Creating Fish Extender gifts for other cruisers is a fun way to interact with guests and share your love of Disney! 

    Guests wishing to participate in the fun can find more information on DCL discussion boards such as DisBoards.com, or by simply googling "Fish Extenders". I've seen super cute custom made pockets on Etsy and eBay, or some guests choose to make their own. It's always fun to walk the hallways of the ship and see what guests come up with! Pinterest has lots of fun ideas for Fish Extender gifts, if you're looking for inspiration. 

    There are Facebook groups created for specific sail dates, so you can link up with others wishing to participate in the exchange. This tradition is only found onboard Disney Cruise Line! What a neat way to meet new friends on a fun vacation.
