A friend has magic bands they no longer use, will they work with our passes?

    Hiya Jim!

Thank you so much for stopping by planDisney with your MagicBand question. Can you believe it? In just a few short months, you’ll be walking right down the middle of Main Street, U.S.A., with Cinderella Castle waiting to welcome you—it doesn’t get more magical than that!

Now, let’s wave a little pixie dust over your question. Although it’s very kind of your friends to offer their MagicBands, once a MagicBand has been linked to another Guest’s account, it’s non-transferable—kind of like how Cinderella’s glass slipper only fit her. If the MagicBand is brand new and has never been linked, then yes, you’ll be able to make it your own and use it during your vacation.

Not to worry, though! There are so many different styles of MagicBands available that you’re bound to find one that perfectly matches your Disney style. You’ll find them in most retail locations around the theme parks and Disney Resorts, and you can also shop ahead of time online. From classic designs featuring Mickey and friends to limited-edition bands celebrating special events, it’s like picking out your very own piece of wearable Disney magic.

MagicBands are such a handy tool throughout your stay. You can use them to unlock your Resort hotel room door, scan into the parks with your tickets, tap into Lightning Lane entrances, and even charge food and merchandise purchases right to your account. It’s like having a touch of Disney magic right on your wrist—no Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo required!

Before your visit, I also recommend keeping an eye on the Disney Parks Blog. It’s the best place to discover the latest news about attractions, events, merchandise, and all things Disney—like your very own enchanted guide to what’s new and exciting around the kingdom.

Jim, I hope this helps answer your question. If you think of anything else while you’re preparing for your magical adventure, feel free to stop by again.

    See ya real soon,

    Christina
