My friend lives in So Cali in qualified zip code. I want to surprise her with a ticket, can I purchase it and she will show her identification when she comes in?

Hi there, Sofia! Welcome to planDisney, and thank you so much for stopping by with your thoughtful question. What a sweet surprise you're planning for your friend—at the Disneyland Resort, magic and celebrations go hand-in-hand, and it sounds like you're hoping to create a little of both!

Let’s dive into your question. Since you mentioned your friend lives in Southern California, it sounds like you may be referring to one of the Disneyland Resort’s special ticket offers for local residents, such as the Southern California Resident Ticket Offer or the Anaheim Resident Ticket Offer. These promotions are a wonderful way for locals to enjoy extra park days at a great value—but there are a few important details to keep in mind.

First, unfortunately, the Southern California Resident Ticket Offer isn’t currently available. It does return from time to time, so I recommend keeping an eye on the special offers page to see when it might become available again.

Now, if you’re looking into the Anaheim Resident Ticket Offer, that one is currently available as of the time I’m writing this, and it’s an incredible value for Guests living in specific ZIP codes near the Disneyland Resort. That said, this offer is limited to Anaheim residents only, and there are a couple of key requirements included in the offer details: a valid government-issued photo ID with proof of residency in an eligible ZIP code must be presented at both the time of purchase and when entering the parks. In addition, the payment method used to purchase the tickets must also be tied to a qualifying Anaheim ZIP code.

Because of these restrictions, you unfortunately wouldn’t be able to purchase this specific ticket on your friend’s behalf, even if she planned to show her ID at the gate. I know that’s probably not the news you were hoping for, Sofia!

The good news is that there’s still a magical way to give your friend the gift of Disneyland. One of my favorite suggestions is to purchase a Disney Gift Card. These can be used toward park tickets, merchandise, dining, and more—and your friend may even be able to apply it toward her own ticket purchase. Since terms can vary for different special offers, I do recommend giving the Disneyland Resort tickets hotline a quick call to confirm whether gift cards can be used for that purpose.

Sofia, your thoughtfulness is already creating magic, and I have no doubt your friend will be touched by your kind gesture. Whether you’re planning a park day together or sending her off for some solo fun, the gift of Disneyland is always something to celebrate.

If any more questions pop up along the way, feel free to visit us again at planDisney. We’re always happy to help you make a little extra magic!

Wishing you sunny skies and Disney dreams!
