I have a friend who is going to give me two tickets, one is under her name and the other under her boyfriend’s name. Can I use them for me and my boyfriend ?

Hey there, hi there, Miriam! It’s my pleasure to welcome you to planDisney!

First, can I just say—you have one amazing friend! Being gifted Disneyland Resort tickets is such a thoughtful surprise, and what a wonderful way for you and your boyfriend to enjoy a magical day together at The Happiest Place on Earth.

Now for the good news: as long as the tickets your friend is giving you are wholly unused, you and your boyfriend should be able to use them without any issues. At the Disneyland Resort, the name printed on a standard theme park ticket doesn’t need to match the Guest who uses it; what matters is the photo taken at the park entrance when the ticket is scanned for the very first time. That first-use photo becomes the identifier for the rest of the ticket’s valid days. Because of that, if either ticket has already been used—for example, if it was a 2-Day ticket and your friend already used Day 1—the remaining day can only be used by the same Guest who originally activated it. A partially-used ticket can’t be reassigned.

Before your visit, Miriam, I’d also recommend opening the Disneyland mobile app and linking the tickets to your MyDisney account so everything is ready to go. You can do this by tapping the menu (☰) button, selecting “My Tickets & Passes,” and then tapping the blue plus (+) icon to link each ticket. Once they’re linked, the app becomes your best planning tool—helping you view or make theme park reservations, check attraction wait times, explore mobile food and beverage ordering (Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe, anyone?!), enjoy Disney PhotoPass downloads, and keep all your plans organized in one place. It’s an easy way to stay one step ahead throughout your day.

And if your upcoming visit happens to coincide with the Disneyland Resort 70th Celebration, which is scheduled to run through at least Summer 2026, you’re in for an extra treat! The celebration is filled with vibrant entertainment and special touches all across the parks—including World of Color Happiness!, a spectacular nighttime show bursting with color, music, and heartwarming moments. You’ll also find magical new 70th Celebration surprises inside Toy Story Midway Mania!, adding an extra dash of fun to an already beloved attraction. It’s truly a wonderful time to experience the excitement and charm of both parks during this milestone year.

I hope this helps, Miriam! It sounds like you’re already off to such a special start with this thoughtful gift, and I’m wishing you and your boyfriend a day filled with laughter, adventure, and those little Disney moments you remember long after you head home. If any other questions pop up as you plan, please stop by planDisney again—we’d be more than happy to help.

    Have a magical day!
