Hey there, hi there Judith! You're always welcome as can be at planDisney, and we're so glad you're hEAR. Thanks for stopping by!
You must be so excited that your magical vacation is just about to begin. My parents live part-time in the Sunshine State and frequently join my family on our Walt Disney World visits, so I'm happy to share some information about using these
special Florida resident tickets.
Because visitors 18 years and older need to show photo identification or other
proof of residency to redeem Florida resident tickets, my parents can only purchase this type of theme park admission for my young children, but not for my husband and me. He and I must buy our own
tickets, available to the general public.
When my parents gift their grandchildren
Walt Disney World theme park tickets, they must first activate the tickets by showing proof of Florida residency at Guest Relations or the
Disney Ticket Center at Disney Springs before my kids enter the theme parks for the first time. If your friend won't be traveling with you to activate tickets for the minors in your family, you'll need to upgrade them to non-resident tickets before visiting the theme parks, either by
calling Disney or stopping by Guest Relations or the Disney Ticket Center at Disney Springs. Remember that all Guests 18 and older who do not live in Florida need general admission tickets even if they are visiting with a Floridian.
I hope this is helpful, Judith, and that your family has a wonderful visit this month. Be sure to catch
Happily Ever After and
EPCOT Forever, both of which made their return just this week. I can't wait to see fireworks light up the night sky in Walt Disney World on my summer vacation next month. Thanks again for sending your question our way, and we'll see ya real soon!
