I have a friend coming with us to dinner but not eating, so they need to be included on the reservation? They would make 6 so would gratuity be automatically included or no since they aren’t eating?

Hey there, Jennifer. Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question. I can see that your Walt Disney World vacation is quickly approaching. I bet you are getting so excited!

For everyone's safety and comfort, plus per Florida State law, each body in the restaurant must be accounted for. So even if your friend doesn't want to eat, they do still need to be included on the dining reservation. That will greatly help the restaurant prepare for your arrival and cut down your wait time. At most restaurants it will be no big deal that your friend doesn't care to eat but I did want to mention that if it happens to be an all-you-care-to-enjoy restaurant like 'Ohana or character meal like breakfast Cape May Cafe each person will be charged eating or not. So keep that in mind when choosing a place to dine with your friend. As for the included gratuity, I think that is going to be up to the individual server. Technically, you are a party of 6 that they are providing service for so I can see it going either way.  However, an included tip is usually just a percentage of the bill and if your friend doesn't eat then your bill won't be any higher than it normally would so your tip should not greatly increase with that either.

I hope this helps. If you have any other questions, please feel free to come back and ask. Have fun!

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
