Aloha, Linda!
Welcome to planDisney, and a great big beautiful happy birthday to you and your friend! I am a firm believer that you are never too young or old for Disney. There is something for everyone, from tots to teens to those who are a child at heart. I can't think of a better way to celebrate a magical birthday like your 80th than to enjoy it at the most magical place on earth.
Linda, given where you'll be staying, there are a few restaurants I would recommend. At Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows, I would suggest a meal at the
Wailulu Bar and Grill. It is located in the Polynesian Tower, with delicious - but moderately priced - Pacific cuisine in a gorgeous Hawaiian-inspired setting. It's a wonderful way to enjoy the spirit of Aloha for your special celebration. Another spot I love is
Kona Cafe at Disney's Polynesian Resort. It serves more Asian-inspired dishes, including sushi, as well as seafood and American fare. But it is another spot where you can enjoy a delicious meal fit for royalty, but at a price that will leave some pixie dust in your pocket.
At Disney's Beach Club Resort,
Beaches and Cream is a more old-fashioned, casual, soda shop-style restaurant that takes you back in time. While it is more traditional diner fare, the real celebration relies on the dessert, and here it comes in the form of the "Kitchen Sink." If you order one, you'll know why it's called this, as the restaurant makes a big deal of this special treat with flashing lights, hand clapping and more! It is a shareable treat made of scoops of vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, cookies ‘n cream, and mint chocolate chip ice creams, topped with hot fudge, peanut Butter, SNICKERS® pieces, fresh-baked brownie, and smothered in every additional topping they have. Now THAT's a celebration!
Finally, Linda, one of my favorite ways to celebrate a special occasion is with an experience as special as the birthday kids. And for your 80th celebration, I would recommend the
Roses of Gold Afternoon Tea at Disney's BoardWalk. My daughter and I did this on our last visit, and it is quite a special way to make your golden day feel extra special. You can make a lunch or dinner dining reservation here as well, and you can order whole cakes from the Cake Bake Shop to have in your room. However, if you would like to book the Rose Gold Afternoon Tea, there is a concierge email and phone number to call, and they will make all of your special arrangements. From name tags to personalized menus, this gorgeous restaurant is fit for any princess!
One other tip, Linda! Be sure to get your "I'm Celebrating" pins at the Front Desk at your Resort when you check in. Not only will you enjoy well-wishes from fellow Guests and Cast Members while wearing it, but some restaurants will even give you a complimentary treat! Now that's magic!
I hope this helps you, Linda, and you enjoy the happiest birthday celebration on earth! If you have any further Disney vacation planning questions, soar back here to see me, and I'll be so happy to help you.
Magically Yours,
Keri
