My friend is bringing his 6 year old daughter to Disney in August. His wife (her mother) passed away this past year and this is their first Disney trip. Is there anything I can setup to make this extra special for her?

Hi Kelly. A very heartfelt welcome to planDisney.

I'm a writer who enjoys using idioms, puns, and humor, but I must admit that your question has genuinely touched my heart. It's beautiful that you want to spread your own magic to a family in need of smiles and love. That's very kind of you. I would be honored to help brainstorm a few ideas to make this sweet little girl's trip feel extra special.

I'm a Gigi to an almost six-year-old granddaughter, and several special things come to mind.  First, if your friend is staying at a Disney Resort hotel, you might consider using Magical Floral & Gifts to leave a surprise in her room. I know that for a six-year-old, this would make her feel truly special.

Since your friend's daughter has been going through a tough time, you might consider making a reservation at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. It seems like she is well deserving of a day to feel like a princess. With a reservation, she will receive a magical transformation fit for royalty, complete with a sprinkle of pixie dust.

Kelly, when I think of the most comforting characters at Walt Disney World, Winnie the Pooh and his friends immediately come to mind. There's a beautiful quote from Christopher Robin to Winnie the Pooh that goes: "If ever there is a tomorrow when we're not together, there is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we're apart, I'll always be with you." If you haven't seen this particular clip from the Winnie the Pooh cartoon, I recommend doing an internet search to watch it with tissues nearby—it's bound to touch your heart. You might consider giving her a Disney Gift Card so she can pick out her own special Winnie the Pooh plush toy to hug when she needs comfort. Or, you could make a reservation at The Crystal Palace for her to share hugs with Pooh Bear, Eeyore, Piglet, and Tigger. A hug from Pooh is something special!

I'd like to share a few links that may help you explore additional offerings that could be particularly special. The "Toddlers & Young Children Guide" may offer you some unique ideas, and the Enchanting Extras Collection is filled with experiences that are perfect for creating memorable trips.

Kelly, this question holds a special place in my heart, and I'm grateful that you visited planDisney. Please feel free to reach out anytime if you need further assistance. As fellow Guests, we would be delighted to offer any suggestions or advice to help your family experience the magic of Disney. It's been my pleasure to connect with you.

A dream is a wish your heart makes,
