We're frequent visitors of Walt Disney World, but next month will be our first time staying at Fort Wilderness in an RV. Can you share what equipment (and sizing) we need to ensure to bring with us to ensure a smooth hookup? Thanks!

    Hiya Amber,

Welcome back to planDisney! I’m so excited to talk to you about your upcoming visit to Fort Wilderness Resort! Staying there is still on my list of things to try, so it was a lot of fun researching your question.

I’ll admit, Amber, I’m not a pro-camper by any means, so I had to enlist some help from a Cast Member or two for this query. When I spoke to my new pal Bernadette, she told me that what you will need depends entirely on the campsite and your specific RV, so there isn’t actually a set list to share. I did a little more digging to find some Guest experiences and saw that, in general, Guests recommend having at least a standard drinking-water hose that is 25 feet long, a 20-foot sewer hose, and a sewer adapter. I’ve also heard that a heavy-duty extension cord is always a good thing to bring. Now, depending on the size of your RV and where the hook-ups are located, these sizes could be perfect, or you could need to adjust, so please keep that in mind. What Bernadette told me is that whatever you typically have on your camping packing list should be more than sufficient for camping at the Most Magical Place on Earth as well.

I hope this gave you a good starting point, Amber. I’m happy to do a little more digging if you provide additional details, however, so please come back and see us if you need to. Before I let you go, since you mentioned it was your first time camping at Fort Wilderness, I wanted to ask if you have thought about transportation around the resort area? I recently attended a birthday party at the Cabins and was amazed by how large Fort Wilderness is. Luckily, my friend had rented a golf cart, which definitely made getting around much easier. So, whether you are bringing your own, renting one from Fort Wilderness, or using the internal bus loop, just factor in the additional time it takes to get from point A to point B over there.

    Happy Planning,
