I am a frequent Disney World visitor and now have the opportunity to visit Disneyland for the first time ever but only for one day. I will be visiting alone. Do I need fast passes? What are the do not miss attractions?

Hey there, hi there, ho there, Connie!

You're as welcome as can be to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. As a fan of Disney Parks on both coasts, I'm thrilled that you are taking an opportunity to experience "Walt Disney's Original Magic Kingdom."

I would definitely say that making use of the complimentary Disney FASTPASS service is a must. At the Disneyland Resort, FASTPASS selections are made only on the day of your visit to the theme parks. So there is no need to worry about making selections in advance. Simply take your park ticket to a FASTPASS distribution point for your desired attraction to obtain a FASTPASS time valid for the return time indicated on the electronic signs at the distribution area or indicated within the Disneyland app.

Tony's Tip: Maximize your Disneyland Resort visit by adding Disney MaxPass to your theme park ticket. This add-on may be purchased with your ticket. Or purchase it within the Disneyland app after you have used your ticket to enter a theme park. With MaxPass, you may experience more FASTPASS return times with reduced wait times between eligibility for new FASTPASS selections and more convenient access to FASTPASS by making selections within the Disneyland app rather than walking to each attraction's distribution point. If you have Park Hopper tickets, you may even make FASTPASS selections for either park within the app. Disney PhotoPass photos are also included with MaxPass!

Since you are familiar with the Walt Disney World Resort, here are my top recommendations for unique offerings you may enjoy at the Disneyland Resort:
    • Enjoy unique Fantasyland dark ride attractions such as Mr. Toad's Wild Ride and Alice in Wonderland.
    • In Tomorrowland, I think you'll enjoy the soundtrack on Space Mountain and extra freedom to maneuver your blaster on Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters.
    • It's always a privilege to meet the Big Cheese himself. It’s even better when you can visit Mickey's House and Meet Mickey in Mickey's Toontown!
    • Some of the most thrilling and unique attractions to enjoy include Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!, Indiana Jones Adventure, and, of course, Radiator Springs Racers.
    • Walt Disney personally had a hand in designing much of the Disneyland Resort. Pirates of the Caribbean was one of the last attractions Walt worked on. You will notice many unique characteristics of that classic attraction in New Orleans Square compared to its counterpart in Walt Disney World Resort.
    • As you leave Disneyland Park at night, don't forget to look up at Walt Disney's apartment over the Fire Station in Town Square. A lamp is kept burning in the window to remind us all of Walt's great legacy.

I hope you have a magical visit to The Happiest Place on Earth, Connie!
