Is 3 and under free ? Or do they need a ticket - we are coming in October

Hello and welcome, Katherine. Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question!

Katherine, children under the age of 3 are special Guests of my pal, Mickey Mouse and do not require theme park admission at Walt Disney World. If your child is the age of 3 or older then he or she would need to have a valid theme park ticket to visit one of the Walt Disney World Theme Parks. If your child is 2 turning 3 during your vacation, the age goes by what they are on the first day of your vacation. In addition to not needing valid theme park tickets, Guests under the age of 3 also don't need to make park pass reservations when visiting Walt Disney World. Because there isn't a ticket to attach to a MyDisneyExperience account, the system will not allow for there to be park pass reservations for littles made either. When you arrive at the Walt Disney World Theme Parks with your under 3 child you'll just simply walk them in with you when you scan your ticket to enter.

Children under the age of 3 also don't need to pay for certain meals at restaurants at Walt Disney World. If you are dining at an all-you-care-to-enjoy restaurant, your under the age of 3 child is free to enjoy all of the food and individual plates that he or she cares to have  - even at character meals which is such a big saving. At restaurants where you order an entree off of a menu, your under the age of 3 child is free to plate share with anyone at the table that you would like. If you'd like to order your under 3 child something additional to eat, only then would you have to pay.

I always loved vacationing at Walt Disney World with my under the age of 3 child because it really did save a lot of money. If your child is 3 or over, you will need to purchase food and theme park tickets but there is a discounted price for children so it is not quite as expensive as paying the full adult price just yet. I hope this helps clear up any confusion on age that you might have had, Katherine. If you have any other questions, please feel free to stop back by and ask me. I'm happy to help.

    Have fun!

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
