Hi, Whitney!
Rider Switch and
FastPass+ are two services offered at Walt Disney World that can really help you get the most magic out of your theme park visit. In order for guests to enter the FastPass+ queue at an attraction, each person must scan their MagicBand or admission card and have a valid FastPass+. The only guests permitted to enter the FastPass+ queue without their own FastPass+ are children under the age of 3, as they are not required to have their own park admission tickets.
While it is possible to reserve different FastPass+ selections for various people in your party, an adult entering the FastPass+ queue with their child must also have a valid FastPass+. Keep in mind that when you are utilizing Rider Switch (without a FastPass+), only the Party 1 riders need to wait in the regular queue. Once the Party 1 adult has returned to wait with the little ones, your Party 2 rider(s) will be able to skip the regular line.
If you feel that the wait for a particular attraction may be too long to use Rider Switch without FastPass+, I would recommend you book a FastPass+ for everyone in your party, utilize Rider Switch, and then cancel the unused FastPass+ for your nonriders (or simply wait for the FastPass+ time window to expire). Then once you have used all 3 of your FastPass+ selections that you reserved in advance for that day (or the time window has expired for them), you can make additional FastPass+ selections, one at a time, based on availability. These additional FastPass+ selections can be made using your My Disney Experience mobile app or at any of the FastPass+ kiosks throughout the parks.
If you have any other questions, please let us know. Have a magical day!
Samantha
