Hi Erin,
Thanks for visiting planDisney! First off, congratulations! I’m so happy for you and your family! Disneyland is a wonderful place to surprise your daughter with such exciting news. I have a few ideas on how you can make this moment extra magical.
1) A great place to take a photo is, of course, in front of the castle. You could have your daughter pose for a few pictures, then surprise her with a Mickey hat that says “Big Sister” on it. I’m sure she’ll be completely shocked (in the best way!).
2) Since your trip will be happening during
the Holiday season, you could take your daughter to
visit Santa in the Fantasyland Theatre. You could slip Santa a letter, and he could share the wonderful news with your daughter about who will be joining your family next holiday season.
3) You could also
visit Anna and Elsa in the Disney Animation Building. What better way to celebrate becoming a big sister than by visiting two of the most famous sisters ever?
4) Another fun idea is to catch
“Mirabel’s Gifts of the Season” at Disney California Adventure Park. This show celebrates the gifts of family during the holiday season and might help your daughter see the joy in welcoming a new sibling.
5) You could even visit the Madrigal Sisters in Frontierland. Check the
Disneyland app to see when they’ll be out greeting Guests. The sisters might even share a few tips on how to be a great big sister!
Some of these experiences might include a
Disney PhotoPass photographer, so be sure to give them a quick heads-up to capture as many pictures as possible. PhotoPass photographers are stationed throughout the parks, and you can use the Disneyland app to find their current locations.
6) If you’re interested in a mini photo shoot to celebrate the news as a whole family, Disney PhotoPass used to offer a “Photo Excursion” package, where Guests could do a short photo session with a photographer in one of the lands. I recommend asking in person if this is still available. Look for a PhotoPass photographer (they’re usually wearing a green shirt or beige vest), and they should be able to share more details.
I hope this helps you plan your surprise, Erin! If you have any more questions or need extra planning tips, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me or any of my fellow planDisney panelists. We’re always happy to sprinkle a little extra pixie dust on your magical news.
Congratulations!
– Melinda
