I just found out that the Contest Of Championals Nationals is going on the weekend we check in (3/3/12 -3/4/12) and wanted to know what, if any impact this will have on the crowds at the parks and hotel.(POP CENTURY) Thank You

    Hi Jennifer,

Walt Disney World is HUGE! It can absorb a lot of guests.  I've visited during similar competitions, and while I notice the attendees (mainly based on their matching uniforms), I don't necessarily see those groups bring in so many people that the parks seem overcrowded by them.  Also, for the most part, the teams will be competing during the day at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.  They won't be inside the parks until their competitions are over.

Now, as for the resorts, that's a different story.  Large groups like these often stay at value resorts.  I think you'll find that you have quite a few competitors staying at your resort.

A bigger factor to consider when traveling in March is when area schools have their Spring Break.  If a lot of children are out on break, crowds will be considerably higher.

Hope this helps.  Have a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Diane, Georgia

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
