At fort wilderness what is the minimum age for someone to trail ride without a adult?

Howdy Marlene and welcome to planDisney!

Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground is my favorite Walt Disney World Resort!  If you're staying as a Guest or just visiting for the day, there are so many fun things to do and enjoy.  It's so unique to be in the heart of the "wilderness" with a sense of peace and quiet, but know that you're still so close to the magic of the theme parks.

Horseback riding at Fort Wilderness is my daughter's favorite activity to do when we are camping.  She is currently 11, but has been saddling up since she was 9.  The minimum age for horseback riding is 9.  Participants must be over 48" and under 250lbs.  Anyone 9 years of age and older can ride without an adult, but a waiver/consent form is required to be signed by a parent or legal guardian for anyone 17 years old or younger.  The parent or legal guardian must be there at the time of drop off and pick up and a photo ID may be required before the minor is released after the trail ride.  There is a Cast Member leading the trail with another in the back and they are always checking on the riders throughout the trail.

Another fun activity at Fort Wilderness, which my son loves to do, is the Archery Experience.  This is available to anyone 7 years of age and older.  Parents can stand off to the side to watch and take pictures.  The Archery Guides are so knowledgeable and patient with the archers, so it makes for a really fun lesson.  My son was hitting the bullseye by the end of the session.  He was very proud of himself and so were we!

My favorite activity at Fort Wilderness is Chip 'n' Dale's Campfire Sing-A-Long.  It is completely free to attend and is such a fun evening with these two troublemakers.  You can bring your own supplies to make s'mores, or purchase a kit from the Chuckwagon Snack Bar right at the campfire.

Please stop back by and visit if you have any additional vacation planning questions.

    Have a magical day!
