Hi Amy! The
Fort Wilderness Campsites are broken down into four categories. You have the tent or pop-up loops which are strictly for guests who wish to tent during their stay. There are also four Full Hook-up loops. These offer the same amenities but are not as close to the trading posts, pools, and marina. They are also not full concrete pads and instead have a sandy back to each site.
The preferred campsites and premium campsites offer the same amenities with cable, water, sewer, electric plus picnic tables and grills. The Preferred sites are in those loops that are closest to locations such as the marina and Pioneer Hall. These loops were some of the original loops and to me they are a bit more crowded and narrow roads. There are a few sites that can accommodate big rigs but not all of them.
We ask for Premium loops when we make a reservation. We need all the amenities but mostly we need a site that is accessible for our 45' motor coach. The sites are all long concrete pads which fit the big rigs better.
There are pet loops within each category with the exception of the tent loops.
Hope this helps you sort out what you might want to reserve for your upcoming Disney vacation!
