At fort wilderness campsites, What is the true/honest/unwritten differences between the “Full hook-up”, “preferred” and “premier” campsites besides the obvious cost difference and the larger concrete pad (which I don’t care about)?

    Hi David!

Welcome back to planDisney!  I'm so happy you stopped by to see us again as you continue preparing for your visit to Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort. This charming property is certainly a one-of-a-kind find in the Disney Resorts Collection.  During your stay, you'll find a variety of recreational activities, dining options, and entertainment to enjoy - without ever needing to leave the resort!

I can tell you've been doing your homework, David, and familiarizing yourself with the various categories of campsites available.  Besides the size differences, you'll also notice some come with a preferred location.  For example, the Full Hook-Up Campsite and Preferred Campsite are nearly identical in size, but the preferred sites are located closer to the marina. . .which also means they are closer to Pioneer Hall and Tri-Circle-D Ranch as well.  My panelist pal, Candace, shared an overview of the differences between campsites that you can use alongside the descriptions on the Walt Disney World website to help you choose a location that is perfect for your trip!  Please keep in mind that as of 2026, each campsite can accommodate up to 8 adults.  Since I see you were chatting with Tammy about pet-friendly options, you may want to call a Cast Member at Tickets and Hotel Reservations to discuss a campsite choice that meets your size needs, location preferences, and welcomes your dog as well!

Because of its size, it's important to note that Fort Wilderness has an internal bus system available as needed during your stay.  You may also want to consider renting a golf cart so you can easily travel throughout the resort.  For a closer look at the various campsite options, recreation, dining, and transportation details, the recently released resort tour of Fort Wilderness can be really helpful!  If you ask me, no visit to this resort is complete without dining at Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue.  Between the toe-tappin', knee-slappin' entertainment and the delicious all-you-can-eat menu, it's a highlight of our trip each time we visit!

I hope this information has been helpful, David, and I wish you the best as you continue planning your trip.  If you have any other questions, please stop by to see us again here at planDisney - we're all ears!

    Cheers!
    Kristi
