Is there a formal dinner night on the Alaska Disney Cruise? Are there taxis available at the port after debarking?

    Hello Kate,

Welcome to planDisney; I’m so thrilled for you to embark on this special Alaskan itinerary with Disney Cruise Line very soon! My family was on this sailing just a few weeks ago, and I’m still reviewing all of our photos and taking in what a special experience it was for all of us. Alaska and these waters of the Inside Passage are truly magical – you're going to have an amazing time!

Yes, there is a formal night planned on these sailings and yours is currently slated for Tuesday, the first day at sea. Entertainment is subject to change, but please know that’s what is currently scheduled for the July 10, 2023 sailing on the Disney Wonder. I noticed that less families participated in formal night on our Alaska itinerary than I’ve experienced in Mexico and the Caribbean, but it didn’t affect our experience as we enjoy the opportunity to dress up on our cruises. The choice is yours, and there will be dinner in the main dining rooms and photography available whether your family decides to participate in formal night or not.

The Port of Vancouver, British Columbia is gorgeous! I loved watching the seaplanes take off and land as we enjoyed our first lunch at Cabanas on the outside deck. The terminal at Canada Place is a sprawling center with shops, entertainment, hotels, and office buildings. You’ll find several taxi companies ready for you when you disembark and clear Customs with your baggage on level two. Vancouver taxis charge by zone so if you’re headed to the airport or other tourist destinations you can find the general rates online to know what to expect in a set rate.

I was advised to pack for “all four seasons” and I was glad I did, Kate! Our base layers were especially helpful so that we could put another light layer or two over that to be comfortable on our coldest mornings or Port Adventures on the water. My son was glad he had gloves, and I was grateful I had packed a few hats as well as a fleece vest which was very versatile.

I hope this helps you finalize your packing for this bucket list destination. Please let us know if you have any additional questions before you set sail, we’d love to help!

    Wishing you a magical cruise,
    Amy
