Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Nina! Popup showers and rain are very common for Florida’s tropical-like climate. Last summer when I took my family for a week, we had 5 out of 7 days with rain, rain, rain. I can tell you that nearly all attractions will continue to operate in the rain (we donned ponchos on
Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad) but outdoor roller coasters and various others may pause operation due to thunder or lightning.
Other indoor
Magic Kingdom attractions like Small World, Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain and Peter Pan’s Flight will continue rain or shine due to being indoors. I would always recommend bringing a full size poncho for each member of your family as well as a stroller cover when visiting Walt Disney World Resort because of showers. If you want to check the hour-by-hour forecast for your expected visit dates, you may find that it won’t rain the entire day. Even if it does, you will still have lots of fun during your trip! Just be prepared with water shoes and ponchos to let the drops fly! If you still feel you need to cancel, please contact Reservations or your Travel Agent as soon as you can. There may be cancellation policies or penalties that you need to follow depending on your purchases.
If I can help you choose some rainy day activities around your
Resort or in the Parks, please let me know. And always carry your umbrella and take advice from Christopher Robin, “Tut, Tut, it looks like rain!” ~ Lindsey P.
