Can the food plan be purchased alone?

Hello, Craig. I'm so glad you've dropped by planDisney to ask your question.

My family and I have really enjoyed the Disney Dining Plan over the years. It was a nice addition to a vacation to be able to have everything paid for ahead of time. Since the reopening of Walt Disney World last summer, the Disney Dining Plan has not yet returned for Guests to be able to upgrade their vacation to include it. There has also been no announcement made of a return date yet. When that announcement is made, however, you'll be able to find it and all of the details on the Disney Parks Blog

However, when the Disney Dining Plan was offered, the only way to purchase it was to book a vacation package and stay at a Disney Resorts Collection Hotel. If and when the Disney Dining Plan returns, I am not sure if it will look the same as it did before. However, if it does that means you'll have several Disney Dining Plan options to choose from. When the Disney Dining Plans were last offered Guests could choose between 4 different plans to fit within their budgets and different eating styles.

    The options were:
    • Disney Quick Service Dining Plan - This plan allowed Guests to have 2 quick-service style meals per each night of their reservation plus 2 snack credits and a refillable drink mug to be used at their Disney Resorts Collection Hotel.
    • Disney Dining Plan - This plan offered 1 quick service meal, one table service meal and 2 snack credits to be used each night of the reservation. Plus you also received one refillable drink mug to use at the Disney Resorts Collection Hotel.
    • Disney Dining Plan Plus - This plan allowed you to choose 2 of any style meals you care to enjoy each night of your vacation. You could mix and match quick service meals and table service meals to fit your needs. Also, this plan included 2 snacks per night of your reservation and a Disney Resorts Collection Hotel mug to use during your stay.
    • Disney Deluxe Dining Plan - This plan offers the most food with your choice of any 3 meals per night of your reservation. You could choose all table service meals, all quick service meals or mix and match. You were also allowed two snacks and a refillable mug per night of your reservation.
As you can see, the Disney Dining Plans that were previously offered had a lot of flexibility depending on what you wanted. My family and I typically chose the standard Disney Dining Plan, although I love the option of the Disney Dining Plan Plus where you really can pick and choose depending on your itinerary. I think that is the best option that was offered and the one I'd most likely pick if it returns.

Hopefully, the Disney Dining Plan will be offered before your next Walt Disney World vacation, Craig. If you have any other questions before your trip, please come back and ask me. I'm happy to help!

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
