Welcome back, Kristin!
Knowing what kind of weather to expect for your sailing can really help with your planning and packing. While temperatures in late December can be unpredictable, there's certainly plenty of fun things to do on
Castaway Cay - no matter what the weather!
Nassau and the Bahamas usually have quite comfortable weather in December. You can expect highs in the high 70s, possibly even the low 80s. Nighttime temps average in the 60s. I encourage you to follow the Bahamas weather forecast as your sail date gets closer to get up-to-date, accurate information about what you can expect.
We sailed the last week of December a few years ago, on a "Double Dip" itinerary that featured two stops at Castaway Cay. On our first stop on the island, it was quite cool, and not many folks braved the water. 48 hours later, on our second visit to the island, it was very warm and sunny! The ocean was full of guests, and it was a great day for fun-in-the-sun.
No worries if you encounter a cool day on the island, there's plenty to see and do! If you choose to snorkel, try to stay in shallower water, where it tends to be a bit warmer. A
bike ride around the island is a perfect choice for a day with cooler temps!
While there's no predicting what Mother Nature has in store for your sailing, I've got my fingers crossed that you'll have warm, sunny days!
I hope this helps with your planning. December will be here before you know it!
Wishing you a magical day! - Diane W.
