Ahoy there, Raul!
Welcome aboard planDisney! It sounds like you’re getting all your embarkation day details lined up, and that’s always a great way to start your vacation on the right foot. Using a Disney Cruise Line ground transfer from
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort is a fantastic choice and adds a little extra Disney magic to the journey to the port.
Since you are not staying at the Polynesian, you are exactly right that the process will be a little different for you and your crew. Guests staying at the resort typically receive instructions a day or two before embarkation about when their luggage will be collected right from their room, and from that moment on, it’s like your bags take their
own magical voyage straight to your stateroom.
In your case, you’ll need to bring your luggage with you to the Polynesian on embarkation morning. Once you arrive and check in with the Disney Cruise Line Cast Member at the designated meeting area, they will guide you through the next steps for your luggage. After it’s loaded onto the motorcoach, that’s the last time you’ll need to think about it until it shows up outside your stateroom door later that day, like it took a shortcut through a certain wardrobe and arrived ahead of you.
You should still receive an email a day or two prior to your sail date with your pickup time and instructions for where to meet. If that email doesn’t come through, I recommend giving Embarkation Guest Services a call at 1-800-395-9374 so you’re not guessing on the morning of your cruise.
I’m not sure exactly where you’re staying before your sailing, but I do know that many Guests using transfers from the Polynesian are coming from Shades of Green. If that happens to be your plan, it’s important to know that the walking path between those two resorts is no longer available. You’ll want to plan for a short ride using a rideshare service, taxi,
Minnie Van, or another transportation option to get over to the Polynesian with your luggage in tow.
One thing my crew and I always keep in mind is to have a
small carry-on bag with anything you might need for the first few hours onboard, since your checked luggage may take a little time to arrive at your stateroom. Things like
travel documentation, swimsuits, sunscreen, medications, or anything you’d want right away can make those first hours feel a lot more relaxed while you wait for your bags to arrive.
I hope this
helps you feel ready for embarkation day and gives you a clear picture of how the transfer and luggage process will work. With a little planning ahead, everything should flow smoothly from the moment you arrive at the Polynesian to the moment you step onboard your ship.
Sea ya real soon as springtime magic carries us from one adventure to the next,
Dustin
