I am flying to Orlando the day before my cruise departs. Do you recommend any hotels near Port Canaveral? If I stay at a Disney hotel in Orlando, can I use Disney transportation to get to the port the next day?

    Ahoy, Caryn!

Welcome aboard planDisney! With your countdown getting closer to zero, I can just imagine the excitement bubbling up—like Remy whipping up something spectacular in the kitchen. You’re so close to trading airport terminals for ship funnels and runway lights for fireworks at sea!

When it comes to the smoothest transition from land to sea, my top pick is the Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport. It doesn’t get more convenient than stepping off your flight, rolling your luggage a few feet, and checking into your room right inside the airport. From there, you can take advantage of Disney’s ground transfers straight to Port Canaveral the next morning without ever juggling bags across town. Currently, transfers are priced at $45 per person one-way or $90 per person round trip, and they’ll whisk you from airport to ship as seamlessly as Mary Poppins snapping her fingers.

If you’re looking to sprinkle a little pixie dust into your pre-cruise stay, you can absolutely book a night at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel instead. Transfers are currently the same cost as from the Hyatt, and this option is especially nice if your flight arrives early enough that you’d like to stroll through Disney Springs or even sneak in a park visit before heading to the ship. It’s a great way to stretch your land legs before trading them for sea legs!

Prefer to be close to the action at the port itself? The Hilton Cocoa Beach Oceanfront Hotel is a popular choice. While Disney transportation won’t service this location, the hotel does generally offer its own shuttle service to Port Canaveral, which you can arrange during check-in. The benefit here is waking up with the salty breeze and knowing you’re only minutes away from boarding—but keep in mind, you’ll need to arrange your own transportation to the hotel from Orlando.

I hope this helps give you a clearer picture of your options before embarkation day. Whether you choose a Disney Resort stay, the convenience of the Hyatt, or the oceanfront vibes of Cocoa Beach, you’ll be starting your vacation in true Disney style—relaxed, ready, and maybe humming a few sea shanties before Captain Mickey welcomes you aboard.

Sea ya real soon as summer waves goodbye and autumn magic begins to shine,
