We are flying into Los Angeles and should arrive to the terminal by 11am or so in Nov 2011 How soon does boarding normally start. I had a rough time keeping my kids happy while waiting to board last year out of Port Canveral. It took hours. Suggestions?

    Hi, Lois!

Congratulations on your upcoming cruise aboard the Disney Wonder to the Mexican Riviera! My family and I are also sailing in November, and we can't wait to experience these colorful ports of call.

First of all, are you not the least worried about the possibility of a weather delay with your air travel in November?  I may err on the side of caution, but I usually insist on flying in the day before Embarkation Day...especially when the weather starts turning cool.  I don't want any of that fluffy white stuff keeping me from making my cruise.  I would hate to send you in a tail spin about your planning, but I just wanted you to think about it.

At the Port of Los Angeles, boarding usually begins around 1 p.m., and the check-in process usually takes about 30 minutes. Therefore, you may be left trying to entertain your kiddos for about an hour or so.  Just bring along some electronic games, cards, small toys and snacks in their carry-on backpacks to keep them occupied. Plus, the Disney characters are sure to make an appearance, too. You may want to make sure they are armed with a disposable camera and an autograph book, too.

For us, we're flying in the day before we sail to visit Disneyland the evening before and the morning of Embarkation Day. I hope this helps you plan, and please let me know if you think of other questions before your trip.

Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation. Bon voyage!
