If I fly into Tampa International is there a shuttle service to the resort? Also once on the resort is there a place to rent a car?

Howdy, Jason! Thanks for sending your questions to us at planDisney!

As a homeowner in the Tampa area, I've flown into the Tampa International Airport many times, even for trips to Walt Disney World Resort! It is a pretty quiet, easy-to-navigate airport with a fairly reasonable commute to the Most Magical Place on Earth. The drive to Walt Disney World is about 75 miles, which generally takes a little over an hour by car. Though there is no direct shuttle service associated with the Walt Disney World Resort, you may be able to find private, paid shuttle options. However, if flying into Tampa International Airport, the best way to get to your Disney Resort Hotel is by renting a car directly from the airport and making the drive yourself. There are also private car services, ride-share services, limousines and taxis available.

If you arrive at Walt Disney World Resort and need to rent a car, you can do so through a few different rental services right on Walt Disney World property. The car rental facility is located near Magic Kingdom Park. The process is quick and easy and there is complimentary shuttle transportation to and from the rental car facility.

Jason, it sounds like a rental car may be important to your family during your stay, but I'd also like to share that you have the option to utilize Walt Disney World Transportation to navigate to and from your Disney Resort Hotel, theme parks, water parks and Disney Springs. Each Disney Resort Hotel offers different options, but Disney Bus Transportation is available at all resorts on property. Other options include monorail transportationwater transportation and my personal favorite, the Disney Skyliner. The small things make my heart happy, but gliding through the air in a character-themed sky gondola will make yours happy too! You may find that you can save costs on that rental car after all!

If you do choose to go with a rental car, it may be important to keep parking at theme parks and resorts in mind when planning your visit. Another fun fact? Walt Disney World is equipped with Car Care Centers, available for maintenance and repairs during your stay!

Jason, I hope this helps you on your planning journey! No matter what you choose, I'm sure you'll make everlasting memories at the Most Magical Place on Earth!

    To infinity and beyond,
