Hi Mel -
Welcome to planDisney! Much like my favorite snowman pal Olaf, I find myself dreaming about that summer sunshine this time of year. The Walt Disney World Resort water parks are the perfect place to cool off during the summer, so let's dive right into your question!
Walt Disney World Resort features two great water parks for guests to enjoy -
Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park and
Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park. In recent years, one water park has typically been open at a time. Currently, Typhoon Lagoon is listed as temporarily closed and Blizzard Beach has operating hours listed through February 24, 2024. Unfortunately, I don't have any insights into which park will be open right now for July 2024. I would recommend keeping an eye on official Disney Parks social media pages and staying tuned to the
Disney Parks Blog for the latest updates as they become available!
I wish I had more information to help you find your answer, but I do hope that whether you find yourself sliding down Mount Gushmore on
Summit Plummet or riding the unique water coaster,
Crush 'n' Gusher, you have a wonderful time enjoying all the parks have to offer. As a reminder, both water parks offer complimentary parking and allow you to bring in your own coolers. I like bringing in some snacks and drinks for my family to help them stay full and hydrated throughout the day! You can always check the
current property rules for any updates on what you can and can't bring into the parks.
Mel, if I can make another suggestion, I would highly recommend a round of miniature golf during your Walt Disney World Resort vacation.
Winter Summerland Miniature Golf is conveniently located near Blizzard Beach while
Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Miniature Golf is located near
Disney's BoardWalk. My husband and I enjoyed a round on the Fantasia Fairways course during a recent visit and had the best time on our "rest" day from the parks. After golf, we walked to a nearby resort hotel and grabbed transportation to go enjoy drinks at the
Tambu Lounge inside
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort. I recommend the specialty Lapu Lapu for a true taste of the islands. You can even grab wings, pot stickers, and ribs here for a casual meal. If you find yourself at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort after dark, you may even be able to catch a glimpse of the
Happily Ever After fireworks from their beach!
Mel, while we have to "just keep swimming" a little longer to find out more about water park operations for the summer, I hope the recommendations shared are helpful as you continue to plan for your upcoming vacation! Please stop by and see us again here at planDisney with any other questions you have in the future!
Cheers,
Kristi
