Hi Sheena!
Welcome to planDisney and thank you so much for submitting your question! Wow, what a great gift to give! Disney theme park tickets truly are the best gift you can receive and I bet their grandchildren are going to be so happy. There's nothing quite like experiencing the Disney magic with your family!
Now let's talk about tickets! Your parents can absolutely
purchase tickets as gifts. They would simply go to purchase tickets as they would normally on the Walt Disney World Resort website or through the My Disney Experience Mobile App and they will be able to check a "This order will be a gift" box in the "Guest Information" section of the checkout page. They will then be prompted to enter the information of the guest, which must match the information on the ID that will be provided when they activate their tickets in the parks. This means that if their grandchildren are minors, they will have to be accompanied either by their grandparents or by their parent or legal guardian, so they could put their own information down or someone else's. The activation process only happens when you first enter the park, so the person whose information is on the reservation will only need to show their ID once on their first day!
I also want to clarify that Florida-resident tickets are unfortunately only available for Florida residents at this time as they
require proof of residency for the whole party. If their grandchildren are also from Florida, however, they can simply show proof of residence in the form of a Florida ID, mail, bills or proof of mortgage. If their parent or legal guardian accompanies them, they would only need to show proof that they reside at the same address!
I hope this was helpful, Sheena, and I am so excited for your family to make magical memories that will last a lifetime. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out. You and me, we're in a club now!
Have a magical day and I am sending all the pixie dust your way,
Ariane
