I am a Florida resident, and having my my daughter and grandson visit Jan 30th. Can I purchase resident discount for all of us? My grandson is 18, and autistic and we will need a fast pass??

    Hiya Sandra,

Welcome to planDisney! A visit to Walt Disney World Resort is a beautiful way to make your time with your family even more magical! I know you will all have an enchanting time exploring the Theme Parks in a few weeks.

One of the perks of being a Florida Resident is that you can purchase entry to the Theme Parks at an exclusive resident price for themselves and Mousketeers under the age of 18 years old. So unfortunately, since your grandson is 18 years old, you would not be able to purchase him (or your daughter) a Theme Park ticket at the Florida Resident rate unless they have a valid proof of residency. I wish I could’ve given you happier news, but there is some news I can share with you about “fast passes.” Walt Disney World Resort has retired the previous fast pass system, which has been replaced by Disney Genie+ service. Disney Genie+ allows you access to Lightning Lane entrances that decrease your wait in line. Although this is similar to the fast passes of the past, this service is not complimentary (prices are per Guest and priced depending on the day). It really is the best way to maximize your day in the Theme Parks. Since you may not be familiar with this new system Sandra, I highly recommend checking out these guides as a starting point.

Before I let you go, Sandra, I do recommend you inquire about the Disability Access Service (DAS) for your grandson. This service is designed specifically for Guests who have difficulty waiting in line for an extended period and is an excellent resource for Guests with autism. With DAS, you will get return times for attractions and eliminate traditional standby line waits. I know many friends who utilize this service, and it makes their experience more enjoyable for their entire family. To learn more about the service and other services meant to ensure Guests with cognitive disabilities have the most incredible experience, I highly recommend this handy guide.

I hope you enjoy your upcoming January vacation with your family, Sandra. Please come back and see us if you need anything else!

    Happy Planning,

    Ashley F.
