Hi! Our flight from NJ will arrive 2pm, Friday 5/15/15. Our kids are 3,5,7 and we are staying at Animal Kingdom. Please help us with time and first night activity/character meal (chef mickey, hoopy, aloha, beach club, 1900 we have already done). Thank you

    Hello Rose,

The first day at the Walt Disney World Resort is always such an anticipated event in our house. After counting down the days, planning the itineraries, talking about past trips, heading to the airport and then finally boarding the Disney Magical Express, the first moment we step foot onto Walt Disney World property feels like Christmas morning in our house. So, to make your first afternoon/evening at Walt Disney World memorable is a must and I am happy to help with some suggestions.

Consider having a "wildlife day." Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge and Villas are home to over 30 species of animals which inhabit the 4 savannas surrounding this property. Your children, with the help of you, can pick up a field guide in the lobby and attempt to discover some of these beautiful creatures. If time is on your side, take a quick dip in the watering hole aka the Uzima Pool or the Samawati Springs Pool. Here parents and children can enjoy water slides along with other fun exploration themed activities. Afterwards, finish your "wildlife day" with a quick bus ride to the Rainforest Cafe, located out front of Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park.

Another, possibility is the Downtown Disney area. Explore the new Marketplace Co-Op boutiques, which opened this past June, and let your children play out front of the LEGO shop and explore The World of Disney. After some window shopping head to T-REX restaurant for a monstrous bite.

But I can't leave out our family favorite, located at Disney's Wilderness Lodge. For a root'n toot'n, knee-slapping, antic filled, pass the ketchup, pony stick riding evening, I highly recommend Whispering Canyon Cafe. You are sure to have a yee-hawing, belly filling and memorable dining experience, like no other.

If I can be of any further pixie dusted assistance feel free to ask and have a magical and memorable stay at Walt Disney World.

I am a Dreamer who has always believed dreams are meant to be the path to your future. Walt Disney, I believe, felt the same way, "All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them." Disney has always been proof that endless imagination and the passion to make them come to fruition is possible. I will never be to old for Disney, it is home to all of us Dreamers.
