At the flag ceremony at MK I know they use veterans to help lower the flag. Can my husband request to do that in advance?

    Hi Mollie ~

Let me offer my sincere gratitude for your husband's service to our country. It is men and women like him that allow us to sleep at night knowing our country is safe. Second, let me thank you. Spouses of our service men and women play an important role too.

The Flag Retreat at the Magic Kingdom is so touching. I think it is wonderful that Disney honors our service men and women in having them participate in this ceremony each day. Click here to read a great article the Disney Parks Blog featured in 2012.

The Magic Kingdom does not take advanced reservations to be the special Guest to help lower the flag each day. I would suggest arriving at the Magic Kingdom before the park opens. Cast Members sometime select Guests to participate in the Magic Kingdom Welcome Show or as the Grand Marshall for the afternoon parade. If your husband is wearing anything that would show his service, perhaps he will be selected to participate in one of those or the Flag Retreat.

If not, head to Guest Relations as soon as the Magic Kingdom opens to inquire if anyone has been selected to participate that day. If not, your husband may be able to participate in the ceremony. It is typically held at 5:00 p.m. but be sure to check the Times Guide when you arrive at the park or the My Disney Experience Mobile App.

I will keep my fingers crossed for you!

Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison V.
