I've got two little Jedis in training of my own, who are always eager to practice their skills with that weapon from a more civilized age. Thankfully, Disneyland Resort has several options available for Guests hoping to purchase or build their own lightsaber beyond the incredibly immersive Savi's Workshop experience. We've taken the sturdier, more play-friendly approach with lightsabers until our most recent trip.
While you'll find metal hilt Legacy Lightsabers for purchase at
Dok-Ondar's Den of Antiquities in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge in Disneyland Park, I think you'd be happier with the plastic build-it-yourself option, which is lighter and sturdier, while also lighting up and making sound. They're made for play! You'll find building stations in
The Star Trader in Tomorrowland or
Star Wars Trading Post in the Downtown Disney District, where your padawan can select their end cap or adapter for a double blade, chassis and blade color, activation switch, sleeve, and emitter. Plus, all the pieces easily snap and twist together for assembly and disassembly, which means we've successfully packed them in backpacks and suitcases when the need arose. After years of play, ours are still as good as new.
Did you know that for a limited time, the
Savi's Workshop experience is complimentary for younglings and their families? Having just experienced my boys build their own lightsabers in the moving ceremony at Savi's, I can't recommend it enough, and the Youngling Saber Building Expo – A Loth-Cat Crew Experience allows your child to learn the ancient art of lightsaber building and become a member of the crew without requiring the purchase of one of these display-worthy lightsabers you'd hate to see broken. It's the perfect interactive activity! At this time, it's a walk-up experience, subject to capacity, with a traditional queue, which you can catch between 10 AM and 2 PM. If the offering is still available during your visit, you might want to participate and then head over to build a play lightsaber. You don't want all that building expertise to go to waste!
