One of my son's favorite activities today is to go cane-pole fishing at
Disney's Port Orleans-Riverside.
So if you’re not staying at Riverside but want to enjoy a quiet fishing break, you’re totally fine to head over and do that.
Port Orleans Riverside has dockside-style fishing at the Fishin’ Hole, and it’s open to anyone, no matter where you're staying during your vacation. You can just stop by, rent a rod and reel, and fish right there on the spot. It’s catch-and-release, and rentals are paid for at the fishing location.
Cane-pole fishing for 30 minutes is $6.00 per pole. The family rate for 30 minutes for up to 6 people is $15.00 for poles, bait, and dock time included. Remember that prices are subject to change without notice.
While my son fishes, I enjoy a quick nap on the hammocks nearby. Also, while you're at Port Orleans, you can take a relaxing boat ride down the Sassagoula River to
Disney Springs or take a
horse-drawn carriage ride while you're there.
