First-time visit with my family: husband and daughter (8). I need tips/suggestions on what is the ideal amount of days to stay, must go to parks, how to reserve dining with a character? We plan to stay at Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside

    Hi Ashley,

Thanks for visiting Disney Parks Moms Panel. Planning any trip to Walt Disney World is exciting, and planning your FIRST trip is especially fun! I'm so excited for you. I always suggest the Free Planing Videos as a great way to get familiar with all there is to see and do — and there is a lot to see and do.

I like to recommend a 7 - 10 day stay at Walt Disney World. This gives you an opportunity to visit the theme parks on multiple days, enjoy water parks, mix in some relaxing resort time, and take in Disney Springs and other recreation offerings.  Adding a Park Hopper Option gives you the added advantage and convenience of same-day admission to multiple theme parks.

As for must-go-to theme parks, well, that's an easy question. The answer is each of them! Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney's Animal Kingdom, and Disney's Hollywood Studios are each unique experiences filled with attractions, shows, dining, and unexpected magic moments. And since you're arriving for a summer vacation, you've likely already heard the exciting news that Toy Story Land is opening at  Disney's Hollywood Studios.

Character dining makes for is one of the most fun experiences for any Walt Disney World vacation, and you can make your Advanced Dining Reservations for character dining online or by calling (407) WDW-1947 or (407) 939-1947 up to 180 days in advance. You'll also want to make your FastPass+ selections, and you can do that up to 60 days prior to check-in.

    Enjoy your FIRST Disney!

Meet the Panelist: Jerry, Pennsylvania

The playful and creative optimism of all things Disney has enthralled me since I was a kid. I loved watching "The Wonderful World of Disney" on Sunday nights, seeing all the live-action and animated classics in theaters, and — of course — visiting "The Most Magical Place on Earth" for the first time 45 years ago. These days, the big kid in me still loves to play Disney. As a long-time Disney destinations vacationer, I'm looking forward to helping you play Disney starting here at planDisney!
