The first week in August we are staying at the Caribbean Beach. We would like to do one adult night out while we are there. I know that we can use the Kid's Nite Out service for in room babysitting, but I really want some personal recommendations on it.

Hi Jodi!  I am the grandmother on the panel and have used the Disney babysitting services when my own children were young (30 years ago) and now we use Kids Nite Out for the grandchildren. In all the times and experiences with them I have never had a bad experience. When we call for a reservation we tell them the ages of the children and we can request someone older or someone younger.  Often we just talk about the kids and let them make the decision who would be best for the job.  The sitter will come with activities for the ages of your children such as coloring books, puzzles, etc. You can set out rules for the time such as TV, walking around the resort, etc.  We usually supply our sitter with a dummy key to the room, which we get from the front desk. This is a room key only and won't have park tickets on it or charging privileges. We have found that allowing the sitter to stroll younger ones who might be fussy is in the best interest of the child as they calm down quickly if necessary. The sitters will not be allowed to bathe or take children swimming due to safety regulations. Another hint is to have some sort of snack or dinner available for the kids and sitter. If you are in a resort that has room service we have the sitter call when they are ready. We write the order down ahead of time.

The last hint is a must for peace of mind and that is to exchange cell numbers with each other. That way you can call to check without using the room phone as kids might be sleeping or she has a way to connect with you quickly if she has a question. The minimum time is 4 hours but that goes quickly. Make sure you have the arrival time early enough so you can walk her through your routine with the kids and still get to a dining reservation etc.

I hope you find this service as wonderful as we have with our family. Over the years we have had infants to pre teens and all enjoyed the experience!
