We are going on first WDW trip in June trying to decide if our Son 9 years old would like staying at the All star Sport resort or Carribbean Resort what do you think?

    Hi!

Thank you very much for sending in your question to the Moms Panel.

Unfortunately, I don't know the answer to your question without knowing your son.  The All-Star Sports resort is a Disney Value Resort while the Caribbean Beach Resort is a Disney Moderate Resort.  Moderate resorts have more amenities and services than a Value Resort; however those things are not that important if you don't plan on spending that much time at the resort.  I think a 9 year old would be happy with either resort to be honest.  However, if your son is anything like my two boys then the pool at the resort is going to play a big part in the decision making process.

The pool at the Caribbean Beach Resort is fabulous.  It is pirate-themed with a Fort and is easily the best pool at any of the Disney Moderate Resorts.  It is a zero-depth-entry pool that has two slides, one of which is relatively long and reachable via a spiral staircase inside the Fort's turret.  There are also shooting water cannons.  Most young boys love this pool!

If your son like pirates then you might also consider staying in a pirate-themed room at the Caribbean Beach Resort.  The theming of the rooms is fantastic.  The only negative is they're in Trinidad South, which is relatively far from Old Port Royale Centertown, which is the main services building of the resort.

The All-Star Sports Resort's pool is not as nice.  None of the Value resorts have a water slide, though their pools are still enjoyable, especially on a hot Florida day.  However, they can't be compared to the Caribbean Beach Resort pool.

Good luck with your decision and have a magical vacation!
