This is our first visit to WDW and have being trying to decide which Character meal to go to. My son is 12 and my daughter is 9. Any suggestions for a quirky meal? We are not looking for a princess meal. Thanks :)

    Hi Stephanie,

By quirky, I'm assuming your looking for an out of the ordinary, fun dining experience.  Chef Mickey's is a very popular character meal at the Contemporary.  If your kids, however, still think Winnie the Pooh is cool, then head to Crystal Palace.  The food is great there and the characters spend quite a bit of time at each table.

If you're looking for a "quirky" meal that doesn't include characters, I have a few suggestions.  Whispering Canyon Cafe at the Wilderness Lodge is one of my family's all-time favorite restaurants.  Ohana at the Polynesian is another fun meal.  Inside the parks, be sure to try 50s Prime Time Cafe; your kids will get a kick out of watching mom & dad get reprimanded for having their elbows on the table or not cleaning their plates.

Hope this helps.  Have a magical vacation!

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
