Hello, Tracey,
Thank you for your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel about your first visit to Walt Disney World. It is so much fun to begin planning a trip!
Disney's Art of Animation Resort's family suites are 565 square feet and can have up to 6 guests in a room. They offer a living room, bedroom, kitchenette and two bathrooms. The living room furniture converts to sleepers, which are honestly not quite as comfortable as true beds. The theming in the resort is amazing, and the Big Blue Pool is part of that great theming where guests can feel as if they are part of the world Nemo made famous. The kitchenette is something you may or may not use. All Disney resorts have small refrigerators and coffee makers, so you'll be able to enjoy those perks in whatever resort you select. The one difference will be that you'll have a microwave in your kitchenette.
At
Disney's Contemporary Resort, the rooms are 394 square feet and accommodate up to 5 guests. Since you are a party of 6, you would need to book two rooms. By having two rooms, you would have quite a bit more space as well as two bathrooms. While the pool at this resort is lovely, especially with its view of Bay Lake, I think of it as a very nice resort pool with just a hint of Disney. You'll also be able to enjoy walking to and from the Magic Kingdom as well as taking the monorail to the park and Epcot. If theming is a high priority for you, Disney's Art of Animation Resort has a more Disney movie-themed pool.
I hope this helps to give you more details to make your decision; if you have more questions, please let us know. We all know how it can be overwhelming making decisions for a first trip! -
