This will be my first visit to Disneyland Resort with a baby (we are old pros at Walt Disney World), talk to me about extras. What Enchanting Extras should we budget for to do with our 13 month old?

Hey there, Ashley! Thank you so much for trusting us with your question, here at planDisney!

I am so excited for you and your family to experience all the magic of Walt Disney's original theme park and to "enter the world of yesterday, tomorrow, and fantasy," in Disneyland Resort! I always get a little teary when I pass underneath this welcome plaque at the entrance to Disneyland Park and think of how many incredible core memories have been made by Guests over the decades. You and your tiny Dreamer are going to have an unforgettable time connecting with one another as you take in all the sights and sounds of the 'Happiest Place on Earth!'

One of the best things about bringing little ones ages 2 and under to visit Disneyland Resort is that they do not need separate admission to the theme parks. This also means that you may not necessarily need to purchase their admission to any bookings you choose to make for the Enchanting Extras Collection. For example, the World of Color Dessert Party is a delightful way to enjoy the nighttime spectacular from the comfort of reserved premium seats along with some sweet treats and beverages. However, children ages 2 and younger are not charged on the reservation, provided they sit on the lap of an adult in their party. Depending on what time your little one goes to sleep, this might be a fun way to experience this nighttime spectacular that is completely unique and exclusive to Disney California Adventure Park. But, I remember my daughter sleeping soundly in her baby carrier throughout the show at that age, so even if your child can't stay awake until showtime, it may still be a wonderful and relaxing experience for you to treat yourself!

Ashley, I have to recommend some character dining experiences for you and your child to experience together. Although they are technically not considered Enchanting Extras, they are special dining reservations that are worth considering during your upcoming visit. My family's favorites include Goofy's Kitchen at the Disneyland Hotel which offers character dining at both breakfast and dinner buffets, as well as Storyteller's Café at the Grand Californian Hotel and Spa where Mickey, Minnie, and their pals show up to visit your breakfast table! One of my most treasured memories as a parent was seeing Chip and Dale play peek-a-boo with my 1-year old. I will never forget the sound of her laughter echoing through the restaurant! You'll want to remember to make your dining reservations 60 days in advance of your visit, as these character dining experiences are quite popular.

I hope this is a helpful start, Ashley! If I can offer any other personalized advice for your family's summer vacation to Disneyland Resort, I hope you'll feel welcome to reach out again.

    Wishing you Wondrous Journeys,
    Tishra
