Hi! This will be my first trip in 19 years. I was wondering what kind of daily budget we should set for counter service food (no dining plan) and snacks. Thanks!

That's a tough question, Lauren, because every family's eating habits are so different and there are so many variables.  For instance, the budgeted amount would be significantly different for a family who orders drinks and dessert along with an entree versus a family that shares a few baskets of chicken nuggets and skips the sodas in favor of (free) filtered water from the soda fountain.  That said, I just took a cursory look at some of the menus from my favorite counter service locations and found that average prices for what I would order ranged from $9-$11.  I'm one to go with water, so I'd be safe budgeting about $25 per day for counter service meals, assuming I'd eat breakfast in my resort room.

My advice to you would be to go online and check out the menus of the restaurants you'd like to visit.  There are multiple websites that offer them (Google the search term "allears" for a starting point).  Once you peruse the online menus (which include prices) you can begin to put together a fairly accurate estimate of what your food costs will be.  Good luck!
