our first trip to WDW, with our 3yr old son end of sept 2015. We are not staying at any of the disney resorts. to eat with mickey mouse, should i reserve now? Do i pay everything upfront? what if we can't make the reservation?

    Hi Anita,

Congratulations on your First Visit to Walt Disney World Resort! I'm sure you will have an amazing time.

Yes, you should absolutely go ahead and make dining reservations for any of the character dining locations and other Table-Service restaurants where you are planning to dine. Reservations can fill up rather quickly, and you can make reservations 180 days in advance. Most locations only require a credit card on file at the time of booking. This is used to charge you in the case that you do not show up and fail to cancel in advance. If you don't think you can make it to your reservation, most of the restaurants only require a 24-hour notice of cancelation. Keep in mind that the cancelation policies may differ among the restaurants, so be sure to check them individually.

A few of the dining locations require prepayment when you book the reservation. You would be credited for the payment if you cancel within the policy guidelines though.

I hope you enjoy your upcoming vacation and make lots of magical memories. Let us know if we can help with anything else.

    Happy planning!
