First trip to WDW and we will be staying at the Coronado Resort. Is is possible to walk instead of using the bus transportation to get to the parks and other resorts? Heard that we should allow 1-1 1/2 hours to get from point A to point B.

    Hi Kim!

This is a question that is frequently asked by first time visitors to Walt Disney World. First, let's look at how large WDW really is. It's twice the size of Manhattan which means WDW is approximately 47 square miles.

With a few exceptions, it is not possible to walk from the resorts to the parks. Let's go over those exceptions:

The Boardwalk and Yacht and Beach Club resorts are within walking distance of Disney's Hollywood Studios and Epcot.

The Contemporary Resort is within walking distance of the Magic Kingdom.

Sometimes guests choose resorts in order to be closer to the park in which they'll spend the most time.

Travel in WDW via bus takes the most time when you are going from resort to resort as it requires transferring at a hub (Downtown Disney, theme park). Travel time will also differ dependent on whether you a bus is already waiting when you reach the depot or if you have to wait for one to arrive.

Once en route, your travel times should from Coronado should be approximately:

    Hollywood Studios - 15 minutes
    Animal Kingdom - 20 minutes
    Epcot - 15 minutes
    Magic Kingdom - 20 minutes

The Coronado Springs Resort is well-situated within the WDW resort!
