This will be our first trip to WDW. We are going July 18-25. We have the disney dining plan that lets us have 3 sit down meals a day. I know I have to make reservations but how do you do that when you don't know where you will be each day?

    Hi Laurie,

Your first trip to Walt Disney World - how exciting! Hopefully this will be the first of many, wonderful Disney vacations.

It really helps to create a general itinerary for your vacation ahead of time.  That way you can work your meals around the schedule.  For example, if you know you want to see Fantasmic!, you'll want to make sure you are in Hollywood Studios on a day when it's being performed.  Once you know what parks you'll be at, it's easy to choose restaurants that are nearby.

Do you have park hopper passes?  If so, I suggest spending the morning in one park, heading back to the resort to rest after lunch, then spending the evening in a different park.

Based on your dates, I suggest the following itinerary:

July 18 - I don't know when you're arriving. If you have most of the day, I recommend Epcot; otherwise, spend the evening in Downtown Disney or enjoying a restaurant at one of the resorts.  Chef Mickey's is a fun option, especially with kids. Jiko or California Grill would be my choice if you're looking for a great meal.
    July 19 - Magic Kingdom/Epcot
    July 20 - Animal Kingdom/Hollywood Studios
    July 21 - Epcot/Magic Kingdom
July 22 - Hollywood Studios - stay there all day, or spend the evening shopping downtown
    July 23 -Magic Kingdom
    July 24 - Animal Kingdom/Epcot
July 25 - Epcot has Extra Magic Hours, so you may be able to get a few attractions in before leaving.

Hope this helps get you started.  Have a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Diane, Georgia

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
